Subjects

Winston Churchill High School is seeking a Literacy Intervention Support Teacher to join their team! The successful candidate will be responsible to teach Targeted Literacy Intervention, English 20-2, Social Studies 10-2 and Science 14/24. They will have a proven commitment to cultivating a classroom and school environment that actively challenges systemic inequities while championing equity, inclusion, and respect for all learners. The successful candidate will be an eager and enthusiastic educator who strives to promote Churchills motto of W ork Hard, Be Kind and will:

• Builds positive, authentic relationships with students, families, and colleagues to support student growth, belonging, and engagement;
• Inspires curiosity and critical thinking through engaging and meaningful learning opportunities in English, Science, and literacy learning;
• Possesses a strong understanding of adolescent literacy development and is skilled in supporting diverse learners in building reading, writing, and communication skills across subject areas;
• Thrives in collaborative teaching environments and values teamwork in developing targeted learning interventions for students with diverse learning needs;
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusive, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive learning environments that honour diverse worldviews and ways of knowing, including Indigenous perspectives.

Requirements

• Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School

Division who are offered employment must provide:

• A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
• A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
• Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
• Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
