Educational Liaison - MH O/P Services PEPP

Reporting to the Manager of the Ambulatory Mental Health and Addictions Program, the Educational Liaison will support PEPP patients with all their educational needs, implementing and reviewing educational resources, and working with the post-secondary institutions and their admission teams and academic advisors. Developing strategic relationships to build an education/academic pathway for our patients.

Temporary Full Time

Rate of Pay: $54.93 per hour - $68.67 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Duration: until October 2027

Qualifications

• Masters Degree required; Psychology preferred
• Minimum four (4) years of recent, related experience
• Academic advising, admissions and accessibility experience in a post-secondary school system in Ontario
• Career counselling training
• Demonstrated knowledge of educational and community services and resources and experience with educational and community networking
• Case management and mental health experience with youth age 14-35
• Research experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong crisis intervention, advocacy, conflict management and facilitation skills
• Demonstrated ability to function independently and interdependently with a diversity of health care team members and educational staff
• Experience in counselling, running groups and psychometry/interpreting psychoeducational reports
• Demonstrated proficiency in applying various mental health interventions including motivational interviewing, and therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy
• Conflict Management Certification preferred
• Background in adult education principles and methodology preferred
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, PHIPA, Ontario Human Rights Commissions and Educational Policies preferred
• Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and treatments, psychotropic medications and symptom management preferred
• Demonstrated skills in providing education to patients, families, educational staff and the health care team preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of high school policies and requirements preferred
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
