Employer Services Consultant

Open Door Group (ODG), a mission-driven non-profit organization serving communities across Alberta and British Columbia, is seeking two Employer Services Consultant who are passionate about helping employers build strong, sustainable workforces while creating meaningful employment opportunities within their communities.

Wage: $32.83 to $38.30 per hour

Positions Available

• One Full-Time, Permanent position
• One Part-Time, Permanent position

Hours of Work

• Full-Time: 36 hours per week
• Part-Time: 28.8 hours per week

These roles follow a regular Monday to Friday schedule. Occasional flexibility may be required to support employer meetings, workshops, networking events, project timelines, stakeholder engagement, or operational needs.

About the Role

The Employer Services Consultant serves as a strategic workforce partner to employers, helping them understand their current and future workforce needs while connecting them with practical solutions that support recruitment, retention, inclusive hiring, and long-term workforce resilience.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager , the Employer Services Consultant works collaboratively with employers, community partners, and internal teams to provide workforce consultation, coaching, education, and resource navigation. This role helps employers strengthen their workforce by improving recruitment practices, supporting inclusive employment, building organizational capacity, and connecting businesses with the right services, information, and partnerships.

• Build trusted relationships with employers to understand their workforce needs and long-term business goals.
• Consult with employers to identify practical workforce solutions that support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and workforce sustainability.
• Guide employers in developing inclusive and accessible recruitment practices that expand access to diverse talent.
• Deliver workshops, presentations, coaching, and employer learning opportunities that strengthen workforce capability.
• Connect employers with community resources, government programs, funding opportunities, labour market information, and workforce development initiatives.
• Build collaborative partnerships with community organizations, industry groups, and stakeholders to strengthen regional workforce development.
• Monitor labour market trends and employer feedback to identify emerging workforce opportunities and inform service improvements.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and employer records that support quality service delivery and program accountability.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Career Development, Adult Education, Organizational Development, Economics, Public Administration, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Minimum three (3) years of recent, progressively responsible experience in employer engagement, workforce development, human resources, business consulting, recruitment, economic development, employment services, or a related field.
• Experience working directly with employers to identify workforce challenges, develop practical workforce solutions, and build long-term professional relationships.
• Experience facilitating workshops, presentations, coaching, or consultation with groups or individuals.
• Experience researching and applying labour market information is considered an asset.
• Experience with Government of Alberta employment programs, employer funding initiatives, or workforce development services is considered an asset.
• Experience using CRM or case management systems is considered an asset.

Competencies / Skills

• Strong knowledge of workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, employee retention, and inclusive employment practices.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and provide consultative workforce solutions.
• Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, and presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret labour market information and apply it to employer workforce planning.
• Confidence using Microsoft 365, CRM or case management systems, data dashboards, and virtual collaboration tools.
• A collaborative, practical, and employer-centred approach with strong relationship-building skills.

Additional Requirements

• Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
• Access to a reliable personal vehicle. Regular travel throughout the region is required. Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with Open Door Group policy.
• Ability to work flexible hours when operationally required.
• Required to complete and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
• Required to provide and maintain a satisfactory Driver's Abstract.
