Associate Director – Local Market Risk

The Associate Director – Local Market Risk will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a top-tier risk oversight framework for the Macro business.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate the risk profile of the Macro business, focusing on rates and foreign exchange markets.


• Define approved tradable instruments and products within the Macro space, ensuring alignment with the organization’s risk appetite and strategic goals.


• Design and manage market risk metrics, including Greek sensitivities, stress testing scenarios, and stress shock calibrations.


• Ensure compliance with internal risk management policies and external regulatory requirements, monitoring activities to maintain adherence to risk limits.


• Monitor and analyze risk exposure, ensuring market risks reflect the organization’s exposure and deliver actionable insights to senior management.


• Provide risk insights by investigating emerging risks and highlighting key trends, concerns, and areas requiring attention.


• Evaluate trading strategies, ensuring they align with the organization’s risk tolerance and deliver a risk‑reward balance.


• Collaborate with trading teams to address risk‑related issues such as system functionality and risk limits.


• Enhance risk infrastructure, leading the development and refinement of the risk management framework, including product mandates and limit reviews.


• Facilitate stakeholder collaboration across multiple teams to support projects, including risk modernization and ad‑hoc requests.


• Oversee significant transactions to support business objectives while ensuring robust risk controls and adherence to policies.


• Drive process improvement by identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance and standardize processes within the local market risk team.

Qualifications

• Independent and curious; works autonomously with minimal supervision and has a natural curiosity to solve complex problems.


• Strong team player with excellent communication skills, able to deliver clear, concise, impactful messages in high‑pressure, fast‑paced settings.


• Market risk expertise (3–7 years) in market risk functions.


• Superior written and verbal communication skills, simplifying complex technical concepts for senior risk and business leaders.


• Deep understanding of vanilla and exotic derivative products across asset classes such as fixed income, credit, foreign exchange, commodities, and equities.


• Expertise in non‑linear products and option Greeks dynamics.


• Proficiency in Value‑at‑Risk (VaR) measurement and back‑testing.


• Advanced skills in stress testing, scenario analysis (e.g., \"what-if\" scenarios), sensitivity analysis, and P&L decomposition.


• Strong knowledge of regulatory capital requirements under the FRTB framework.


• Educational background: holds an MBA, MA, MS, or equivalent qualification in finance, economics, or a quantitative discipline.


• Project management skills; proven experience in managing and coordinating projects.


• Technical proficiency: advanced coding and data analysis capabilities, including Python, Tableau, or Bloomberg.


• Analytical and problem‑solving skills, demonstrating a structured approach to identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex challenges.
