Practice Lead, Science and Innovation

About the Position

We are seeking a collaborative and intellectually curious professional to help advance the Institute on Governance's Science and Innovation practice. Reporting to the Executive Director, Science and Innovation, this role supports the delivery of science and innovation learning programs, advisory services, research initiatives, and thought leadership activities while building relationships with stakeholders across the public, academic, and nonprofit sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Support learning programs such as the IOG’s Leadership Development Program in Science & Innovation (LDSPI), IOG’s Science and Innovation day courses, and custom training.
• Deliver advisory projects with the team including identifying /responding to opportunities for advisory work, developing budgets and proposals, and designing and implementing projects for external clients.
• Research and contribute thought leadership on topical issues related to the governance of science and innovation and science and innovation policy and communications.
• Identify or create opportunities to advance IOG’s thought leadership in science and innovation through written projects, special events, presentations or the like.

Key Qualifications

• A master’s degree in science, a related field, and/or relevant experience.
• At least 5 – 7 years of research-related experience; having a diverse research background is a strong asset.
• Excellent written and spoken English; the ability to operate in both official languages is an asset.
• Tech-savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Zoom.

Additional Details

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000

Location: Ottawa, in office

Term: full time, with benefits
