ACADEMIC OBSTETRICIAN & GYNAECOLOGIST ( MATERNAL FETAL MEDICINE )
Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology – Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine
Queen’s University
The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Queen’s University is seeking a qualified obstetrician gynecologist who has Maternal Fetal Medicine ( MFM ) fellowship training for a Full Time Clinical Academic position.
Qualified applicants must have an MD (or equivalent), and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and subspecialty fellowship training in MFM . Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the educational and scholarly activities within the department. Preference will be given to applicants whose CV and letters of reference can attest to the applicant’s ability to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment; and to contribute to both the clinical activity of the Division and the academic productivity of the Department.
The members of the Division of MFM enjoy a variety of work that may include clinics, ultrasound reporting, fetal procedures and coverage of Labour and Delivery, in addition to such academic roles as teaching and research through Queen’s University appointments. Currently, each member provides 20-30 new (clinic and inpatient) consultations each month seeing patients whose complexities cross the breadth of MFM . The Division is exceptionally well supported with auxiliary specialty support including Obstetrical Internal Medicine (3 staff), Perinatal Mental Health (2 staff), Endocrinology (3 staff), Anesthesia, Genetics, Neonatology and Pediatric Cardiology, to name a few. When required, there can be response from Critical Care, including two robust Intensive Care settings. Kingston Health Sciences Centre ( KHSC ) offers a groundbreaking alliance with Midwifery to support parents and infants who do not have access to a family physician in the NEST clinic, an outpatient clinic that operates 7 days a week and sees families until 6 weeks postpartum. We are a centre that supports and promotes gender affirming care and patient reproductive choice.
As a member of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, physicians enjoy a close working relationship with other department members. In addition to shared clinical space and patients, all members have office space in the same area of the hospital. This facilitates a team mentality in which all members work together to optimize wellbeing of patients and colleagues alike.
Members of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefits plan. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
Faculty and their dependents are eligible for an extensive benefits package including prescription drug coverage, vision care, dental care, long term disability insurance, life insurance and access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program. Employees also participate in a pension plan. Tuition assistance is available for qualifying employees, their spouses and dependent children. Queen’s values families and is pleased to provide a ‘top up’ to government parental leave benefits for eligible employees on maternity/parental leave. In addition, Queen’s provides partial reimbursement for eligible daycare expenses for employees with dependent children in daycare. For more information, see Queen’s Human Resources.
