Alberta Electric System Operator
Join the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) as a Lead Engineer for Customer Access Studies in Calgary. Leverage your power system expertise in a hybrid working setting to deliver creative solutions and support customer projects. The Lead Engineer will drive engineering assessments and interconnection studies for the AESO's Customer Grid Access team. Collaborating with various stakeholders, including project managers and regulatory teams, you will develop engineering solutions while mentoring junior engineers. Your role includes overseeing study scopes and ensuring adherence to industry trends and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with CAS Regional Leads and internal engineers
- Provide technical oversight on engineering studies and deliverables
- Represent AESO in regulatory proceedings and stakeholder meetings
- Conduct power flow and stability studies using PSS/E
- Support development of engineering standards and methodologies
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering; postgraduate degree preferred
- Registered Skilled Engineer with APEGA
- 8+ years in electric utility industry, focusing on engineering studies
- Proficiency in power system analysis and PSS/E
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing Alberta's electricity market
