Project Assistant, Alternative and Renewable Energy (Term to March 31, 2027, with the possibility of an extension)

Iqaluit, Nunavut

Reporting to the Manager, ARE, the Project Assistant, Alternative and Renewable Energy is responsible for providing administrative support to the project team. The position assists with various duties including project data collection and entry, basic project management and coordination, basic research/report writing, and any other various duties as requested. The position is responsible for understudying the general and technical aspects of the Renewable program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attend meetings with the project team members to gain practical knowledge and skills on all Renewable Energy projects and related activities.
• Work with project coordinators and project managers to support proponents in QEC's NMP, CIPP and IPP programs.
• Work with project managers to understand the technical requirements of NMP, CIPP and IPP projects.
• Work with the project managers to gain insight on technical requirements of NMP, CIPP and IPP projects.
• Work with the project coordinator to gain knowledge on funding requirements and processes.
• Gain knowledge and execution of the team's documentation control process and adherence to the department's filing system.
• Assist with data collection and distribution to internal and external stakeholders.
• Other closely related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications Include:

• High school diploma.
• Ability to work with computers and applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)

Assets:

• Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Environmental Science, Environmental studies, Engineering, Resource Management or related fields is an asset.
• Experience in the Utility sector is an asset.

• Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture.
• The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French.

We offer a competitive salary range of $79,354.12 to $85,400.13, and a northern living allowance of $16,328.00 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. In addition, subsidized staff housing is available for this position. This position is included in the Nunavut Employee's Union.
