About Us

We are the independent expert in assurance and risk management. Driven by our purpose, to safeguard life, property, and the environment, we empower our customers and their stakeholders with facts and reliable insights so that critical decisions can be made with confidence. As a trusted voice for many of the world's most successful organizations, we use our knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.

About Energy Systems

We help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future. We do this by assuring that energy systems work safely and effectively, using solutions that are increasingly digital. We also help industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

About The Role

Do you enjoy being where energy projects come to life? Can you turn field observations into clear, practical insights for customers and technical teams? Are you ready to help strengthen quality and safety across energy projects?

DNV Energy Systems' Renewables and Power Grids Advisory group is seeking a Site Visit Inspector to join the Engineering, Environmental, Permitting & Sustainability (EEPS) department. This field-focused role will support construction monitoring, site observation, and in office technical work across large to small scale energy system projects.

You will serve as a field ambassador for DNV, documenting construction progress, quality observations, non-conformances, safety observations, and potential schedule impacts. You will work closely with civil, electrical, environmental, HSE, Owner's Engineering, and Independent Engineering subject matter experts, while independently managing field logistics and producing clear, timely reports. As part of our Renewables and Power Grids group, you'll help shape a sustainable future while developing your career in an environment that values equity, respect, and diversity. If you're passionate about organizing complex projects, enjoy engaging with a variety of personalities, and want to make a real impact, come join our journey!

This role will be based out of a DNV office in Montreal, QC, Toronto, ON, or Calgary, AB. The position follows a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees spend at least three days per week working from a DNV office. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

Significant travel across the Canada and United States is expected.

Why You Should Work for Us

Within DNV's Renewables and Power Grids group and organizational culture, how we collectively influence the world for future generations matters deeply to us. Our team works every day to increase the widespread deployment and reliable operation of energy assets, support our customers' success, and contribute to DNV's purpose of safeguarding life, property, and the environment. You will join a collaborative, technically diverse team that values safety, integrity, continuous learning, and practical customer solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, project managers, site personnel, and internal technical teams in-person and/or in a virtual forum.

  • Independently manage travel, availability, documentation, and competing field assignments in accordance with safety protocols.

  • Support desktop technical and operational assignments during lower field-demand periods to maintain utilization and broaden capability and participate in continuous improvement and operational efficiency activities.

  • Actively contribute to reporting of HSE incidents internally within DNV to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
