Job Summary And Requirements
This posting is to fill a one-year full time (75 hours bi-weekly) term position with anticipation of a permanent opportunity.
Temporary assignments will be accepted with advanced supervisor approval.
This position is preference to bilingual English and French.
Who We Are
The French Language Services Directorate (FLSD) is a team of twenty-five client-focused professionals dedicated to empowering departments to serve and inform Yukoners in French. We foster strong partnerships with other departments and stakeholders, provide strategic advice rooted in language policy and planning, and offer centralized services such as translation and language support.
The Bilingual Communications Division supports government employees in informing, engaging with and promoting bilingual services to the public. We provide centralized translation services and manage government-wide social media channels and web presence in French.
The opportunity
The French Language Services Directorate (FLSD) is seeking a strategic communicator who brings sound judgement and strong writing skills to a dynamic work environment. Reporting to the Senior Communications Advisor, you will drive the promotion of FLSD’s services and lead the development of high-quality communications materials.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues while taking initiative to advance bilingual communications across government, including bilingual emergency communications. You will also help improve shared tools such as SharePoint by introducing practical solutions that streamline workflows and support effective teamwork.

Essential Qualifications
- Completion of post-secondary education in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related discipline. Experience developing and delivering a full range of communication products, such as news releases, speaking notes, reports and print material.
- Experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
- Experience in communications functions within a government or public sector setting is an asset.
- Experience planning and managing social media campaigns in a professional organizational setting is an asset.
- Experience working with content management systems (e.g., Drupal and SharePoint) is an asset.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

L’équipe
La Direction des services en français est une équipe de 25 professionnelles et professionnels qui est attentive aux besoins de sa clientèle et aide les ministères à servir et à informer la population en français. Elle entretient des partenariats solides avec les ministères et différentes parties prenantes, apporte des conseils stratégiques ancrés dans l’aménagement linguistique et offre des services centralisés, notamment de traduction et de soutien linguistique.
La Division des communications bilingues donne au personnel de la fonction publique les moyens de communiquer avec la population dans les deux langues ainsi que de l’informer des services bilingues offerts et d’en faire la promotion. Son offre de services centralisés comprend des services de traduction ainsi que la gestion des médias sociaux et de la présence Web en français pour tous les ministères.
Le poste
La Direction des services en français (DSF) recherche une communicatrice ou un communicateur stratégique ayant d’excellentes aptitudes en rédaction ainsi que la capacité d’exercer un jugement sûr et de travailler dans un milieu dynamique. Sous la direction de la conseillère principale en communications, vous ferez la promotion des services de la DSF et superviserez l’élaboration de communications de haute qualité.
Vous travaillerez en étroite collaboration avec vos collègues et ferez preuve d’initiative pour promouvoir des communications gouvernementales bilingues, notamment en situation d’urgence. Vous contribuerez en outre à l’amélioration des outils communs tels que SharePoint en proposant des solutions pratiques qui simplifient les processus et facilitent le travail d’équipe.
Vous êtes la personne idéale pour ce poste si vous avez à la fois une vision globale et le souci du détail, si le service à la clientèle et la collaboration vous stimulent et si l’amélioration continue vous motive. Vous comprenez l’importance de systèmes fiables pour une communication efficace et vous savez soutenir les deux.

Exigences essentielles
- Diplôme d’études postsecondaires en communications, en journalisme, en relations publiques, en marketing ou dans un domaine connexe
- Expérience dans l’élaboration et la création d’une gamme complète de produits de communication (ex. communiqués de presse, notes d’allocution, rapports et documents imprimés)
- Expérience dans l’élaboration et la mise en œuvre de stratégies de communication
- Expérience en communication au sein d’une administration publique ou du secteur public – considérée comme un atout
- Expérience en planification et en gestion de campagnes sur les médias sociaux au sein d’une organisation professionnelle – considérée comme un atout
