More than just a job, we offer rewarding careers.Job DescriptionReporting to the AVP, External Counsel Performance, this role is responsible for establishing a consistent, objective, and scalable approach to assessing the quality of external counsel litigation work. The role supports the centralization of oversight within the Legal portfolio by conducting structured file-level reviews and generating data-driven insights. Through disciplined scorecard-based evaluation, the role strengthens accountability, reinforces adherence to litigation protocols, and supports improved litigation outcomes and risk management.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct structured file-level reviews of external law firm litigation files to assess quality, strategy execution, and adherence to standards.Apply and maintain / develop standardized scorecards to evaluate legal analysis, procedural execution, and overall file handling quality by external counsel.Identify trends, risks, and inconsistencies across external counsel performance.Support development and refinement of KPIs and performance metrics for external counsel.Generate data-driven insights and reporting to inform leadership decision-making.Support relationship management of external counsel by providing structured feedback informed by file reviews.Identify opportunities to leverage data, automation, and AI.Contribute to development of AI-enabled tools and strategies.Job RequirementsLLB or JD and member in good standing with a law society in Canada.3-5+ years of in-house or external insurance defense litigation experience.Strong understanding of litigation strategy and legal operations.Knowledge of legal and court documents and procedures.Knowledge of standard office equipment and word processing.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to communicate effectively.Excellent drafting skills and eye for detail.Motivated self-starter with the ability to work productively under pressure and deliver business results.Strong interpersonal & client service skills; professional and positive demeanor.Superior organization & priority setting skills, strong work ethic and ability to multi-task.Conceptual and creative problem-solving skills.Additional InformationWe wish to thank all applicants however, only successful candidates will be contacted for interviews.Who We Are:As part of TD Bank Group, one of Canada's largest financial institutions, at TD Insurance, we care for Canadian families, making it easy to get the best advice, protection, and support in their moments of need, always.TD Insurance offers a wide range of products, including General Insurance and Life and Health.
