Business Analyst

Loewen's corporate office in Steinbach, MB is seeking a Business Analyst to join the team.

As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for liaising between business stakeholders and IT on the integration and support of business and reporting systems throughout the company. You will work closely with management to analyze software applications and reporting in an effort to improve processes. You will be responsible for recommending solutions to assist the organization in achieving corporate goals.

As Business Analyst, you will be responsible to help develop, implement and support business analytics for overall company, with a particular focus on designing and analyzing reports for sales, marketing and senior management, and researching new data sources and analytical tools to enhance the data-driven business focus. You will also be responsible for ensuring data integrity across business units and training staff on using the created systems.

What you will do:

• Act as a liaison between stakeholders and programmers throughout solutions development process.


• Document functional and non-functional business requirements for system enhancements/defect fixes required.


• Document processes or procedures, create testing documentation, and create specifications or proposals.


• Participate in the evaluation and selection of applications.


• Develop functional specifications and participate in research of potential vendors.


• Responsible for the extraction and analysis of complex information from a variety of data sources.


• Develop capabilities to identify areas of opportunity and improve processes and efficiency on reporting and operations.


• Manipulate and compile data sets into comprehensive reports and dashboards to make business partners more self-sufficient.


• Extract, review and prepare sales and customer data for analysis, reporting using SQL/BI Tools.

What you will bring:

• University degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, related field or equivalent experience


• 4-6 years of experience as a business analyst and/or data analysis


• Involvement with ERP systems, JIRA and Confluence


• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)


• Experience with SQL and relational databases and a solid grasp of data structures


• Strong understanding of applications development, system design and solutions development lifecycle


• An understanding and urgency relating to critical issues and the ability to diligently work to resolve them


• Strong analytical and problem solving skills


• Excellent communication skills including business writing and presentation skills
