Role and Facility Information
Come work as a Psychiatrist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a full‑time psychiatrist to join Richmond Mental Health and Substance Use Services. This position combines 0.6 FTE with the Richmond Adult Mental Health Team (MHT) and 0.4 FTE with the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, offering a rewarding blend of longitudinal community psychiatry and outreach‑based care.

Responsibilities
The Richmond Adult Mental Health Team (0.6 FTE) provides ongoing assessment and treatment for adults living with serious and persistent mental illness who require interdisciplinary community‑based care. Referrals are received primarily from family physicians, inpatient psychiatry, and the Emergency Department.
The Assertive Community Treatment Team (0.4 FTE) provides intensive community‑based treatment and rehabilitation for adults with severe mental illness and complex needs, including concurrent substance use disorders, housing instability, and significant functional impairment. The psychiatrist works closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team and provides care in both clinic and community settings.
Academic Opportunities
Psychiatrists in Richmond participate in the education of medical students, residents, and allied health professionals. Opportunities also exist for teaching, quality improvement, leadership, and program development.
Qualifications
Education, Licensing, & Experience:
- Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory
- Fellowship in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or equivalent
Knowledge & Abilities:
- Eligibility for clinical faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine
- Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin would be an asset; interpreter services are available.
