We are seeking an Energy Procurement Manager who will be based at our Montreal Headquarters and part of the Strategic Procurement team.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Energy - Global Procurement & Trading, the Energy Procurement Manager will play a critical role in the overall success of the Energy Procurement team's ability manage a $5B cost profile in a highly volatile supply and pricing environment. The Energy Procurement Manager will positively impact on the bottom line, contributing to the organization's stability and growth. the planning, sourcing, and physical acquisition of safe, reliable, and uninterrupted supplies of jet fuel and other related products in order to support Air Canada operations for domestic and international locations.

They will be responsible for conducting supply market research, contributing in establishing sourcing strategies, seeking proposals, analysis of received proposals and ensuing analytics, assist in the drafting and implementation of contracts, and vendor management.

Role & Responsibilities

Work directly with the Senior Manager, Energy - Global Procurement & Trading to:

• Develop an understanding of the jet fuel market.
• Conduct basic/informational supply market research and baseline spend analysis
• Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and sourcing strategies
• Participate in the process of establishing binding agreements with worldwide Fuel suppliers
• Contribute to the management of overall vendor relationships and performance
• Assist manager to draft and execute contracts and record in the Ariba system

Contribute to the improvement of internal procurement practices:

• Get familiar with tendering process tools & methodology to evaluate supplier proposals using quantitative and qualitative criteria
• Perform due diligence to ensure contracted services are provided
• Ensure compliance with established SP processes
• Assist in the resolution of operational issues
• Exposure/participation in discussions between parties to support the operations
• Identify improvement areas & propose ideas related to Energy Procurement

Assist in implementing audit procedures for assigned markets:

• Audit vendors based on pre-determined criteria
• Report on audit findings
• Responsible for corrective measures

Learn/complete operational responsibilities for domestic and international jet fuel supply

• Supplier fuel quality & technical fuel handling specifications/procedures for Air Canada compliance
• Monitor, communicate and implement corrective measures
• Manage the fuel management system
• Keep current with key political and economic developments
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of commodity key drivers and raw material/freight costs

Qualifications

• University degree in the relevant field of study (Commerce, Supply chain, Finance) or professional experience to support the responsibilities of this role
• Ability to respond resourcefully, proactively, when faced with new challenges and to move forward positively and productively under conditions of change or uncertainty
• Excellent interpersonal skills, can engage and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to write business plans, business requirements documents
• Experience in any of the fields of procurement, passenger airlines, Airports, Oil Industry, supply chain and/or another related role.
• Self-starter and ability to work under minimum supervision
• Ability to work under pressure and to multi-task with a strong sense of priorities
• Ability to facilitate a cross-functional work team to achieve objectives.
• Excellent time management skills, ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis and flexibility with working hours. Occasional travel may be required
• Strong entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to innovate
• High degree of professionalism and discretion is essential
• Experience in financial analysis and evaluation is a strong asset
• Fully proficient with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Acting with a high degree of diplomacy, tact and judgment is key to this role
• 3+ years' experience in Jet Fuel or oil industry environment, an asset
3+ years' experience in a purchasing organization, including tendering, bidding, negotiating, and evaluating major product and /or service contracts is an asset
