A warehouse dispatcher coordinates the movement of freight, personnel, and materials. They serve as the critical link between the warehouse floor, drivers, and customers to ensure inbound and outbound orders are routed, tracked, and delivered efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Driver Coordination: Plan routes, assign deliveries, and dispatch drivers while actively communicating via phone or radio to adjust for traffic or obstacles.
- Order Tracking: Track and monitor the status of freight and field units in real-time, ensuring strict adherence to delivery appointments.
- Documentation & Compliance: Manage shipping paperwork (bills of lading, proof of delivery) and ensure hours of service (HOS) and DOT regulations are met.
- Customer Service: Answer inquiries, address complaints, and keep clients and inside sales teams updated on order delays or issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse shipper/receivers, supervisors, and inventory teams to ensure outbound orders are staged and loaded correctl
