Radiation Protection Officer

In this role, you will be responsible for providing radiation support for the operations, which includes:
-Managing the as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) program, radiation procedures, and controls
-Collecting, maintaining, and recording radiation data from the facilities
-Issuing of radiation work permits
-Developing quality control procedures and training of staff
-Managing power air purifying respirator (PAPR) cleaning and training personnel specific to site demands
-Conducting routine monitoring and assessing work conditions pertaining to radiation protection for the safety of all workers
-Providing advice to the operation related to radiation safety
-Assisting with any CIRS investigations and providing guidance for corrective actions on any radiation related incidents

Required:  
-radiation or environmental monitoring technician certificate or a post-secondary education in a science-related field;
-five to eight years of applicable work experience with radiation protection principles;
-equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered;
-experience managing a team;
-excellent communication and analytical skills;
-team player with the ability to work independently with safety as a core value; and
-work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.

Recommended:
-experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft excel, and database applications;
-mining experience, specifically at a uranium mine site;
-experience as a member of the Occupational Health Committee (OHC); and
-an aptitude and desire to become a member of the emergency response team.
