CR CNSL 2 - Crown Counsel
Position Classification: Crown Counsel Level 2
Location: Abbotsford, BC V2S 1H4 (Primary) Hybrid work options available.
Salary Range: $171,585.15 - $222,523.21 annually
The Role
As Crown Counsel, you will lead the prosecution of offences under the Criminal Code, provincial laws and certain federal statutes, from start to finish. You will decide which charges to pursue, guide cases through the court process, and provide support to witnesses, victims, and families with care and respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead prosecution of criminal and related cases from initiation through trial.
- Make decisions on charges and courtroom strategy in accordance with BC Prosecution Service policies.
- Advise and support witnesses, victims, and their families throughout court proceedings.
- Travel as required to attend court sessions and other relevant locations.
Qualifications
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia, or immediate eligibility for call to the British Columbia Bar.
- Currently in the 6th to 11th year of call, with a minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a practicing lawyer in Canada, including in Criminal Law.
- Preferred: 8+ years of experience, significant recent criminal trial experience, criminal prosecution experience, and proficiency in French for trials.

Other Requirements
- Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) required.
- Employee must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
