Position Overview

This is an exciting time to join our company, as we are growing rapidly! We're looking for a Sales Tax Associate that can hit the ground running from day 1. We will train on the specific nature of the clients and the software we use but you must have a good amount of accounting experience to pull from.

This role in particular will grow in responsibilities quickly so we are looking for someone hungry for a spot on a growing team. The Sales Tax Associate will be responsible for managing sales tax compliance and reporting, ensuring adherence to federal and provincial tax regulations. This role involves analyzing sales tax data, preparing accurate tax filings, and providing support during audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Sales Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with sales tax regulations for various jurisdictions, including preparing and filing accurate sales tax returns.
• Data Analysis: Review and analyze sales tax data, including transactions and documentation, to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and organized records of sales tax transactions, payments, and correspondence.
• Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Tax Research: Stay updated on changes in sales tax laws and regulations, and advise the team on their implications.
• Communication: Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to address sales tax-related issues and provide guidance as needed.
• Reporting: Generate reports on sales tax activities and trends for management review.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Canadian sales tax, accounting or a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge: Understanding of Canadian sales tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Skills: Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
• Software: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly via both email and calls.
