General Manager, Engineering & Public Works
A vibrant city with the warmth of a small town, the City of Nanaimo is one of the fastest growing, livable urban hubs on Vancouver Island. Situated between the mountains and the ocean on the east coast of Vancouver Island, Nanaimo is a short ferry trip away from Vancouver and a gateway to the Gulf Islands. With an award-winning Official Community Plan, Nanaimo envisions a future where the pressures of growth are managed carefully to protect its unique treasures. Due to a planned retirement, the City is now seeking an experienced, community-oriented General Manager of Engineering & Public Works who can help steward the City through its ongoing growth and development. The General Manager oversees a large team of diverse professionals and sits as a core member of the City's leadership team, working in collaboration to achieve Council's vision. Externally, the GM will work with various levels of government, external agencies, and the community to deliver projects, programs and services that contribute to the enhanced livability and prosperity of the City and the region. As the ideal candidate, you are:
