Principal Solution Consultant, PPPM

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Solution Consultant, PPPM based in Canada.

This senior consulting role is responsible for shaping complex, outcome-driven engagements across project, program, and portfolio management. You will lead executive discovery, business transformation framing, outcome architecture, governance design, and advisory quality for sophisticated client environments. The role connects business strategy, operating models, technology, governance, adoption, and measurable value without owning detailed technical architecture or commercial strategy. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, Sales, Account teams, Engagement Directors, Solution Architects, and delivery leaders. A major focus will be on strengthening consulting methodology, stage-gate discipline, reusable assets, and customer outcomes. You will also coach other consultants and help elevate the overall quality and maturity of the practice.

• Lead complex solution consulting engagements by clarifying business objectives, transformation constraints, value targets, operating-model impacts, risks, success measures, and delivery approaches.
• Conduct executive-level discovery and translate ambiguous business challenges into structured consulting narratives, decision paths, phased roadmaps, and measurable outcome models.
• Define outcome architectures covering value hypotheses, KPIs, baselines, target outcomes, benefits tracking, and executive reporting.
• Design governance frameworks with appropriate stage gates, decision forums, escalation paths, decision ownership, and executive communication cadences.
• Shape current-state and future-state operating models that connect people, processes, technology, governance, adoption, and value realization.
• Advise senior stakeholders on organizational structures, portfolio management, investment priorities, capacity, strategic alignment, and measurable business outcomes.
• Translate organizational strategies into scalable work management solutions supported by Atlassian products, while remaining focused on business value rather than software implementation alone.
• Apply and continuously improve solution consulting methodologies across diagnosis, design, validation, activation, and scaling phases.
• Review engagement artifacts for clarity, completeness, evidence, value alignment, customer relevance, and readiness for executive or delivery-team use.
• Support complex sales pursuits through discovery approaches, advisory workshops, solution framing, scope assumptions, value cases, proposals, and statements of work.
• Collaborate with Sales and Account teams as a consulting and scoping advisor without owning pricing, negotiation, commercial strategy, or close plans.
• Partner with Engagement Directors, Principal Solution Architects, Technical Architects, and delivery leaders when specialized business or technical input is required.
• Develop and maintain value cases, operating models, roadmaps, governance models, KPI frameworks, benefits trackers, decision logs, executive presentations, playbooks, templates, and discovery guides.
• Coach Senior Solution Consultants and Solution Consultants through advisory reviews, workshop preparation, structured feedback, and artifact improvement.
• Support hiring, onboarding, enablement, communities of practice, capability planning, and consulting quality initiatives.
• Promote responsible use of approved AI tools to improve consulting efficiency, consistency, quality, and value realization.

Requirements

• Proven experience in solution consulting, management consulting, business transformation, enterprise PMO, Project Portfolio Management (PPM), or a closely related advisory discipline.
• Demonstrated ownership of large or complex consulting engagements involving multiple stakeholders, workstreams, business domains, or delivery phases.
• Strong experience designing enterprise work management solutions using Atlassian products such as Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence; experience with Jira Align, Atlassian Focus, or Atlassian Strategy Collection is highly desirable.
• Extensive experience leading executive-level discovery, advisory workshops, governance forums, and decision-oriented client conversations.
• Strong capabilities in problem framing, value modeling, KPI development, roadmapping, operating-model design, adoption planning, and benefits tracking.
• Solid understanding of project, program, and portfolio management principles, including governance, work hierarchies, dependencies, roadmaps, and executive reporting.
• Strong knowledge of stage-gate governance, iterative delivery, consulting methodologies, and outcome-based advisory practices.
• Familiarity with enterprise delivery, ITSM, Agile, Work Management, service management, and the broader Atlassian ecosystem.
• Demonstrated ability to coach consultants, evaluate advisory artifacts, and establish repeatable methods and quality standards.
• Experience working in regulated, complex, or enterprise environments such as financial services, healthcare, automotive, public sector, or multinational organizations is preferred.
• Knowledge of ITIL, SAFe, Lean-Agile, DevOps, Enterprise Service Management, change management, or operating-model frameworks is advantageous.
• Relevant certifications such as Atlassian ACP, SAFe SPC or Lean Portfolio Management, PMP, PMI-PfMP, PMI-PgMP, or equivalent consulting credentials are desirable.
• Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, credibly, and in a decision-oriented manner.
• Excellent structured problem-solving skills and the ability to turn ambiguity into coherent plans, artifacts, and decision paths.
• Strong systems-thinking capabilities across people, processes, technology, governance, risk, and operating models.
