About The Role

The Theatre Design Coordinator supports the development and documentation of IMAX theatre systems and technical configurations for use by the Theatre Development team and external partners. Reporting to the Director, Global Theatre Design, this role plays an integral part in creating and maintaining technical documentation, supporting custom theatre solutions, and contributing to the evolution of the IMAX theatre experience.

This position works cross-functionally with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders to support theatre development initiatives, special projects, and technical presentations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about design, technology, and immersive entertainment environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of technical documentation for IMAX theatre systems and equipment for internal and external use
• Assist in configuring IMAX theatres and equipment to maintain and enhance the IMAX experience
• Contribute to the development of new entertainment concepts using current, modified, or emerging technologies
• Assist in creating performance specifications and manufacturing details for specialized equipment and custom client solutions
• Support the preparation of technical system data and documentation used by the Theatre Development group
• Collaborate with team members on technical details required for RFP submissions
• Assist in preparing costing details, estimates, and budgets for special projects and non-standard equipment
• Remain current on theatre design standards, technologies, and performance criteria impacting the IMAX experience
• Prepare project-specific technical documentation packages tailored to client and project requirements
• Coordinate with sub-system suppliers to ensure technical requirements are accurately reflected in documentation packages
• Develop presentation drawings, visual materials, and models for technical and sales presentations
• Support additional projects and assignments as directed by leadership

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Familiarity with building construction and design principles
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modeling tools
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, and Adobe Creative Suite

Nice to Haves

• Familiarity with theatre design and immersive entertainment environments
• Experience with Power BI
• Experience with D5 Render
• Familiarity with Lumion and/or V-Ray
• Interest in entertainment technology, experiential design, and premium cinema experiences

Hiring Range / Échelle Salariale à L’embauche

$31.81 / 31,81$ - $39.76 / 39,76$ (per hour / par heure) Placement within this range depends on a candidate’s experience, skills, internal equity, and regional market factors.
