About the role: 

GM’s simulation team is looking for an experienced staff fullstack developer to be a key technical leader in our mission to deliver autonomous driving technologies safely. This is a high-impact role where your work directly enables the validation of our most complex AI-driven systems.  

Responsibilities 

Technical Vision: Define the architectural roadmap for our Simulation Scenario Definition platform and/or its programmatic Typescript/Python SDK.  

Scalable Tooling : Lead the design and implementation of our next-generation graphical editing tools used by hundreds of engineers to precisely define complex traffic, environment, and sensor scenarios.  

Performance & Infrastructure : Drive the evolution of our Python infrastructure, focusing on core algorithms for scenario serialization, validation, and integration with our large-scale cloud compute cluster.  

Mentorship : Act as a hands-on mentor, setting the engineering excellence standard for API design, code quality, and testing practices across the team.  

Required Qualifications 

7+ years of professional experience minimum in software development, with a significant portion focused on  large-scale platforms, tooling, or SDK development .  

Proven ability to  lead technical architecture and drive complex, multi-quarter projects from concept to production.  

Strong experience with  front-end engineering for sophisticated graphical applications using  TypeScript (e.g., using modern frameworks like React or Vue, and graphical/mapping libraries like WebGL/Three.js, or MapboxGL).  

Expert-level proficiency in  Python , including deep knowledge of best practices, performance optimization, and building robust APIs/SDKs for external consumers.  

A track record of  mentoring and coaching mid-level and senior engineers, raising the technical bar, and driving code quality standards within a team.  

Desired Skills (Bonus Points) 

Solid foundation in  3D graphics, computational geometry, and/or real-time simulation concepts . 

Direct experience developing or extending a  Domain-Specific Language (DSL) or high-level scripting language.  

Background in  game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal) or other professional simulation software.  

Experience in  data visualization techniques for large, complex datasets.  

Familiarity with the architecture of  Autonomous Vehicle (AV) technology (e.g., perception, planning, controls) or other complex robotics/safety-critical systems.

Compensation: 

The salary range for this role is $167,000 to $216,200. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

À propos du poste

L’équipe de simulation de GM est à la recherche d’une ingénieure principale ou d’un ingénieur principal expérimenté en développement full stack pour jouer un rôle de leadership technique clé dans le cadre de notre mission visant à déployer de façon sécuritaire des technologies de conduite autonome. Il s’agit d’un rôle à fort impact, dans lequel votre travail contribuera directement à la validation de nos systèmes d’IA les plus complexes.

Responsabilités

Vision technique : définir la feuille de route architecturale de notre plateforme de définition de scénarios de simulation et/ou de son SDK programmatique en TypeScript/Python.

Outils évolutifs : diriger la conception et la mise en œuvre de nos outils graphiques d’édition de nouvelle génération, utilisés par des centaines d’ingénieures et d’ingénieurs pour définir avec précision des scénarios complexes liés à la circulation, à l’environnement et aux capteurs.

Performance et infrastructure : piloter l’évolution de notre infrastructure Python, en mettant l’accent sur les algorithmes de base pour la sérialisation et la validation des scénarios, ainsi que sur leur intégration à notre cluster infonuagique de calcul à grande échelle.

Mentorat : agir comme mentore ou mentor pratique, établir la norme d’excellence en ingénierie en matière de conception d’API, de qualité du code et de pratiques de test au sein de l’équipe.

Qualifications requises

Au moins 7 années d’expérience professionnelle en développement logiciel, dont une part importante consacrée à des plateformes, des outils ou des SDK à grande échelle.

Capacité démontrée à diriger l’architecture technique et à mener des projets complexes s’échelonnant sur plusieurs trimestres, de la conception à la mise en production.

Solide expérience en ingénierie front-end pour des applications graphiques sophistiquées utilisant TypeScript, par exemple des frameworks modernes comme React ou Vue, ainsi que des bibliothèques graphiques ou cartographiques comme WebGL/Three.js ou MapboxGL.

Maîtrise experte de Python, y compris une connaissance approfondie des pratiques exemplaires, de l’optimisation des performances et de la création d’API/SDK robustes destinés à des utilisateurs externes.

Expérience avérée en mentorat et en accompagnement d’ingénieures et d’ingénieurs de niveau intermédiaire et principal, en rehaussant le niveau technique et en faisant progresser les normes de qualité du code au sein d’une équipe.

Compétences souhaitées (atouts)

Solides connaissances en graphisme 3D, en géométrie computationnelle et/ou en concepts de simulation en temps réel.

Expérience directe dans le développement ou l’extension d’un langage spécifique à un domaine (DSL) ou d’un langage de script de haut niveau.

Expérience des moteurs de jeu, comme Unity ou Unreal, ou d’autres logiciels professionnels de simulation.

Expérience des techniques de visualisation de données pour de grands ensembles de données complexes.

Connaissance de l’architecture des technologies de véhicules autonomes (VA), notamment la perception, la planification et les systèmes de commande, ou d’autres systèmes complexes de robotique essentiels à la sécurité.

Rémunération

L’échelle salariale pour ce poste est de 167 000 $ à 216 200 $. Le salaire de base réel qui sera offert à la personne retenue dans cette fourchette variera en fonction de facteurs pertinents pour le poste.
