Custom Picture Framer Position
Akasha Art Projects is seeking an experienced Picture Framer to join our growing team. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background in custom framing and art services and a genuine respect for the handling and presentation of fine art.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, works efficiently in a fast-paced production environment, and has experience managing projects from consultation through final assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute high-quality custom framing projects with precision and consistency
- Handle and frame valuable and delicate artwork using archival and conservation practices
- Perform advanced framing techniques, including:
- Float mounting
- Archival Hinging
- Shadowboxes
- Large-scale and oversize framing
- Design and client care
- Assemble framing components accurately
- Operate framing equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure finished work meets studio standards
- Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and manage workflow priorities
- Assist with packaging and preparation for delivery and installation projects
- Maintain an organized, clean, and professional workspace
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–5 years of professional custom framing experience
- Strong knowledge of framing materials, mouldings, glazing, mounting methods, and conservation practices
- Experience handling original artwork, photography, and high-value pieces
- Exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
- Professional communication and client service skills are an asset
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with artists, galleries, designers, or hospitality projects
- Familiarity with art handling and installation procedures
- Experience with production scheduling or workflow coordination
