YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Projects Engineering Superintendent, you will be part of the Construction Department. You will be responsible for ensuring proper and safe maintenance protocols are adhered to and practices in washing mining equipment at the Detour Lake Mine. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
- Assist the Senior Civil Project Engineer/Lead with the execution of the capital projects portfolio – Civil discipline support (engineering, procurement & construction);
- Collaborate ad manage engineering firms to complete detailed engineering for projects;
- Lead work package execution across all project phases: feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover;
- Resolve technical issues and support constructability, value engineering, and optimization efforts;
- Review and approve civil engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical calculations;
- Provide civil technical expertise for all projects while collaborating with other disciplines to manage engineering consultants;
- In collaboration with Construction Team, develop and maintain scope definitions, work breakdown structures (WBS), high-level schedules, and execution plans for assigned packages;
- Coordinate interfaces between civil works and other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, process, and environmental);
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and internal engineering practices;
- Provide input, support to the construction team and recommend corrective action when required during execution;
- Support the development of project estimates, preparation, and submission of business cases;
- Collaborate with the procurement group to execute scopes of work, tenders, technical bid evaluations and assist with general contracts management;
- Identify critical issues within the project (i.e., project risks and opportunities) that could impact outcomes (i.e., schedule or budget) and develop action plans to address negative variances and reporting areas of non-compliance;
- Share and implement best practice engineering and process improvement solutions across the company;
- In collaboration with the Projects Cost Controller, manage project costs, review actuals to date, provide forecasts, cost deviation, and recommend remedial actions to stay on budget.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Post-secondary education (first degree) in engineering – Civil/Structural;
- 6 to 8+ of experience in mining civil infrastructure projects;
- P. Eng designation is a must;
- A good knowledge of Ontario building code and other applicable codes or regulations;
- Experience with CAD software including AUTOCAD Civil 3D, Navisworks or any other relevant ones is an asset;
- Highly developed communication and presentation skills (oral and written) that include excellent report writing, presentation, and conflict resolution skills;
- Highly developed interpersonal, problem solving, customer service orientation and team skills;
- High degree of conceptual abilities and capacity to develop creative solutions;
- Knowledge of the mining and construction regulations;
- Knowledge of Ontario OH&S Act and regulations;
- Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines;
- Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach;
- Strong attention to details and analytical skills;
- Experience working at a remote work site is considered an asset.
YOUR WORK SCHEDULE:
- Schedule: 4/3 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
Compensation Statement
In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation include base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
