Communications Strategist

Our Communications Department is looking for a dedicated Communications Strategist to join the team.

Position Responsibilities

The Communication Strategist is responsible for formulating and executing (client) department communication strategies aimed at effectively disseminating information to the community, stakeholders and media. The role encompasses tasks such as planning, announcements and addressing issues, all with the goal of maintaining informed public awareness on matters concerning City services and programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree - Marketing, Communications or related field.
• Two to three years in progressively responsible communications, community engagement, or public relations roles, preferably in the public sector.
• Experience in executing and evaluating strategic communications plans.
• Experience in solving communications problems using an innovative and creative approach.
• Familiarity with communications industry standards and the capacity to lead the production of high-quality graphics, video and photo.
• Experience in media relations and writing for the media.
• Experience in writing for multiple mediums, including social media, web, print, etc.
• Experience in collaborating, liaising, and consulting with internal clients and external stakeholders to understand concerns and provide solutions to communications and public relations issues.
• Able to develop key messages and mitigation strategies for organizational items and issues

Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation

Salary range $37.02 - $47.86 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
