School Board Liaison

The School Board Liaison is responsible for ensuring that school runs are operating smoothly and that the driving staff, public, and schools we serve receive excellent customer service. This position involves frequent day-to-day communication with stakeholders, and requires someone who has exemplary patience, organizational, and communication skills to be successful.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Monitor bus routes; correct or create route schedules, as required
• Distribute schedules to dispatch, drivers, and attendants upon final approval from the board
• Communicate route vacancies to appropriate departments
• Act as a liaison between schools, parents, and SOUTHLAND to ensure inquiries and concerns are resolved in a professional and timely manner
• Attend driver meetings at schools
• Attend board meetings, as required
• Monitor E-timesheets and review for validity
• Assist with charter bookings, appropriate driver scheduling and dispatch of charter drivers

Knowledge And Skills Required

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Map reading skills with a strong knowledge of the city; specifically, road systems, locations of schools, and major attractions
• Class 2 driver’s license considered an asset
• Strong communication skills and phone etiquette
• Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure

Working Conditions

This role is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional Sundays, with a regular workday falling between the operational hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm (must be flexible).
