Short-Term Recovery Nanny

We are looking for a warm, attentive and reliable Short-Term Recovery Nanny to provide dedicated one-on-one care for our 2 year old son while he recovers from a leg fracture. He currently has a cast and has been instructed not to walk or stand. He needs a caregiver who can keep him safe and comfortable while helping him maintain a fun, engaging routine during his recovery. This is a hands-on, child-focused role. Our priority is keeping him safe, happy, entertained and comfortable while following his medical restrictions. Responsibilities:

• Provide attentive, one-on-one care throughout the shift
• Follow his orthopedic/medical restrictions carefully — he must not stand, walk, climb or otherwise put weight on his injured leg unless specifically cleared by his medical team
• Carry or safely assist him with transfers as needed
• Prepare and provide meals and snacks, including feeding assistance when needed
• Diaper changes and general toddler care
• Put him down for and supervise naps
• Play with him and provide age-appropriate activities while accommodating his temporary mobility limitations
• Read books, do crafts, play games and provide other engaging seated activities
• Take him outside for walks in a stroller when appropriate and weather permits
• Help maintain a calm, predictable daily routine
• Monitor his comfort and let the parents know about any concerns
• Follow parents’ instructions regarding his cast, positioning, medications (if applicable), and activity restrictions
• Keep his play and care areas tidy and clean up after meals/activities
• Communicate with parents about how he is doing throughout the day

Important safety requirement: Our son is very active and naturally wants to move around like a typical 2-year-old. Because of his fracture, preventing accidental weight-bearing and falls is an essential part of this role. The successful candidate must be comfortable providing close supervision and gently redirecting him when he attempts to stand, walk, climb or engage in activities that could put him at risk of reinjury. We are looking for someone who is calm, patient and proactive, rather than someone who simply supervises from a distance. Ideal candidate:

• Previous experience caring for toddlers
• Warm, nurturing and genuinely enjoys playing with young children
• Very attentive and safety-conscious
• Comfortable caring for a toddler with a temporary physical limitation
• Able to safely carry and assist a 2-year-old as needed
• Patient and comfortable with a toddler who may become frustrated by his temporary restrictions
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable following detailed parental instructions
• First Aid/CPR certification is strongly preferred
• References from previous childcare families preferred
