Your Role
ICI Radio-Canada Saskatchewan is looking for a Saskatoon-based cross-platform videojournalist assigned to cover arts and culture. The working language is French. We are looking for a skilled storyteller and shooter who can gather and present daily news stories that deeply resonate with the Franco-Saskatchewanian community. Your stories will be published on the RC Info app and broadcast across all other Radio-Canada platforms.
We are looking for a creative, resourceful, thorough and highly independent journalist who excels at breaking down complex information for the public. You must also be able to thrive under pressure, conduct your own research and technical/editorial newsgathering, and confidently package and present your material across multiple platforms.
Please Note
- This position requires a flexible schedule (including irregular hours) and the ability to travel throughout the coverage area in a Radio-Canada vehicle.
- Excellent command of English and French is required.
Job Purpose: Your goal is to build a close connection between the public broadcaster and Saskatchewan’s French-speaking communities. To do so, you will develop and present original arts and culture stories with a creative use of sound/video and diverse voices. You will also provide up-to-the-minute coverage of cultural events. You will prepare and file stories about arts news and current affairs for all ICI Saskatchewan platforms.
Key Tasks
- Develop and maintain contacts with a variety of sources to ensure current knowledge of issues and events in the coverage area relevant to the objectives of the role.
- Gather information from various sources.
- Be interested in and knowledgeable about topics that engage young francophones and francophiles across the province.
- Analyze facts and information gathered and draw conclusions or raise issues requiring further investigation.
- Arrange for and conduct interviews.
- Decide which elements should be included in an item, their order, length and sequence, as well as the method of transition from one element to another.
- Develop shot lists and sequences that contribute to the focus and mood of the story.
- Prepare, align, set up and operate an ENG/EFP unit, a smartphone and ancillary equipment, ensuring optimal audio, video and technical quality under prevailing conditions.
- Understand digital and media consumption patterns of our audiences.
- Light the subject or scene and compose program visual material using a handheld camera. Ensure that the material produced meets the technical and esthetic requirements for editing.
- Deliver all recorded materials, including shot lists and sequences.
- Edit recorded items on appropriate/available editing systems.
- Prepare and write scripts, continuity and headlines.
- Report the story, either on camera or in voice-over form.
- Be flexible to work regularly for television, radio and/or digital platforms.
- Drive a motor vehicle in the performance of the job.
Get ready to embark on a career-defining experience!
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
What You Bring

- Ease with live reporting.
- Bilingualism (English/French) required.
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan, local and Franco-Saskatchewanian communities, as well as arts and community issues across the province.
- Sensitivity to the country’s French-speaking communities.
- Thorough knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices (JSP) and Radio-Canada programming.
