Payroll Assistant

PML Professional Mechanical Ltd. is Western Canada's leading company for plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and fire protection. Supporting the Payroll Specialist, the Payroll Assistant will be responsible for supporting and executing payroll activities and ensuring the payroll is on time and accurately reflects current Collective agreements/continued compliance with all government bodies. i.e., CRA, Service Canada, WCB, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the full cycle in-house weekly and biweekly payrolls, including vacation coverage
Ensure that all information received is processed in the correct pay period and accurately reflects those changes.
Develop a thorough knowledge of union agreements, benefits and compliance of all outside agencies
Provide support and assistance to the accounting group
Other duties as directed
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years payroll experience
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation or in progress is an asset
Post-secondary education in business or related field
Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills
Organizational skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Experience with Jonas Construction Management Software is an asset
