Well-rounded Assistant Controller role spanning operational accounting and corporate accounting. Hands-on position while also providing leadership and oversight.

Who- the Company: 

Our client is a small, privately held industrial technology and engineering company based in the Tri-Cities, specializing in machine vision and automation solutions.

What- the Role:

This is a unique opportunity for a well-rounded senior-level accounting professional reporting into the President. 

• Oversee accounting and financial operations for the operating company, properties and four holding companies.
• Manage Canadian tax matters, including income tax, SR&ED and investments, working with the external accounting firm on filings.
• Oversee payroll, benefits and HR, including recruitment, terminations, performance reviews and bonuses.
• Manage inventory and production operations and supervise the Office Administrator, Production team and Purchaser.
• Oversee facilities management and liaise with strata management.
• Support customer-facing activities, including inside sales, RMAs, quotations and light technical support.
• Provide general hands-on operational support as needed in a small-company environment.
• Nice to have: Basic IT knowledge (Windows server, Microsoft 365, desktops) and graphic design/Adobe experience.
• Looking for a “Jack of all trades” Controller who is comfortable wearing multiple hats beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.

Who- the Candidate:

• CPA designation with strong accounting and managerial experience.
• Hands-on Controller-level experience with a strong operational and accounting background.
• Experience with multi-entity and multi-currency accounting (CAD, USD, EUR).
• Proven ability to work independently in a stand-alone finance function with minimal supervision.
• “No task too big or too small” mindset; comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small, family-owned business.
• Self-starter with a can-do attitude, strong judgment and the ability to self-manage.
• High level of trust, accountability and ownership.
• Steady tenures demonstrating loyalty and stability during career path. This company treats their people well and employees tend to stay a very long time! 
• Comfortable working full-time in the office.
• Candidates located in the Tri-Cities or surrounding areas would be ideal.
• Adaptable and willing to pitch in with a variety of operational and administrative tasks as needed.

How Much:

The salary for this role is commensurate with level and relevance of accounting experience and qualifications, and will range from $100,000 to $130,000 (please note to get to the top end, must have all nice-to-have qualifications and over 10 years of relevant experience)
