Protrans Personnel Services is currently recruiting a Forklift Operator (Dock Worker) on behalf of a large transportation company. If you have forklift experience in a dock or transportation environment and are looking for a stable opportunity with long-term potential, we'd like to hear from you! What's In It for You?
Pay Rate: $24.45 per hour Schedule:
- Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Plus one or two additional 8-hour weekday shifts
- Weekday shifts may be on days or nights and are scheduled to support operational needs and vacation coverage
- Strong performers may be considered for permanent placement with the client after 6 months
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly
- Ability to push and pull up to 50 lbs
- Capable of sitting, squatting, and kneeling as required
- CSA-approved steel-toe safety boots required
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Previous forklift experience in a transportation, warehouse, or dock environment
- Valid forklift certification is considered a strong asset
- Must be comfortable working in a refrigerated warehouse and dock environment, where temperatures may reach -20°C .
Job Responsibilities
Working as part of a skilled transportation team, you will:
- Move skids and pallets between trailers and loading areas
- Operate a counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently
- Use an electric pallet jack as required
- Perform manual material handling of freight and packages (up to 50 lbs)
- Assist with loose loading and unloading of freight
- Utilize handheld scanners and basic computer systems to support operations
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and company policies
You are:
- Safety-focused and dependable
- Experienced with forklift operation in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable performing both equipment operation and manual labour
- Able to work flexible weekday shifts in addition to weekend hours
- A team player with a strong work ethic
- 75% Forklift Operation
- 25% Material Handling / Loose Loading
