The Opportunity
Are you looking for a caring, collaborative, values-driven workplace with inspiring teammates and leaders? Do you have the ambition and desire to be the best and thrive at one of the world’s leading insurance providers? Look no further than Zurich Canada.
Zurich Canada is currently looking for an AVP, Claims Analytics.
This leadership role will be responsible for building and leading Zurich Canada’s Claims Analytics function, helping transform claims data into actionable insights that improve operational performance, customer experience, fraud detection, claims outcomes, and business decision-making.
The successful candidate will partner closely with Claims, Technology, Finance, Customer Office, and business leaders to establish a modern analytics capability that combines reporting, business intelligence, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision support.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Claims Analytics while building a high-performing team and advancing Zurich Canada’s Data and AI strategy.
Zurich Canada uses artificial intelligence-enabled tools to support certain aspects of the recruitment process, including the initial review and screening of applications. Artificial intelligence is not the sole basis for candidate shortlisting or selection. All hiring decisions are reviewed and made by qualified hiring professionals.
Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market-facing engagements.
What you will do
- Lead and evolve Zurich Canada’s Claims Analytics strategy, roadmap, and operating model.
- Build and lead a high-performing team focused on claims insights, reporting, fraud analytics, customer experience analytics, and advanced analytics.
- Partner with Claims leadership to identify opportunities to improve claims outcomes, operational efficiency, expense performance, and customer experience.
- Develop executive dashboards, KPIs, and reporting that provide actionable insights into claims performance, leakage, expenses, fraud, and customer outcomes.
- Drive claims leakage detection and reduction by identifying trends, anomalies, overpayments, and recovery opportunities.
- Lead fraud analytics initiatives, including emerging fraud pattern identification, indicator optimization, and collaboration with claims and fraud teams.
- Advance predictive analytics capabilities, including forecasting, workload planning, severity analysis, and other high-value claims use cases.
- Champion a single source of truth for claims data, metrics, and reporting through strong data governance and stewardship practices.
- Partner with data, technology, and business teams to improve access to trusted claims data and modern analytics platforms.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear business stories, recommendations, and executive presentations.
- Drive adoption of analytics and AI-enabled capabilities while ensuring appropriate governance, controls, and responsible use practices.
- Develop strong relationships across the organization and serve as a trusted advisor to Claims and senior leadership teams.
Job Qualifications – What you bring to the table
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing analytics, reporting, or data teams.
- Insurance or claims analytics experience required.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, Databricks, or similar analytics platforms.
- Experience in claims operations, fraud analytics, customer experience analytics, or predictive modeling is an asset.
- Experience partnering with senior business leaders to influence strategy and business decisions.
- Strong experience delivering analytics solutions, dashboards, reporting frameworks, and performance measurement programs.
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
- Experience building and scaling analytics teams and operating models.
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, and modern data-driven decision support capabilities.
- Ability to translate complex analytics into simple, actionable business insights.
