Posting Overview:

To provide accounting and clerical assistance and support to the Supervisor of Accounting including the processing of invoices using the current financial system; resolving invoice discrepancies, and investigating overdue accounts. This position will provide relief duty for the Receptionist and backup support for the Elementary Program/Admin Clerk.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Graduation from a two-year community college program with a diploma in Accounting or a related field.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge :

• good knowledge and understanding of general accounting procedures, along with solid numerical skills in order to calculate recoverable taxes, process invoices, and other accounting entries
• ability to provide assistance with regular cheque runs and assist with year-end processes, etc.;
• proficiency with maintaining accounting files;
• excellent communication and inter-personal skills in order to interact positively and effectively with vendors and staff via telephone and/or personal contact;
• good clerical skills in order to process, redirect mail, prepare outgoing correspondence for signature, maintain general office files, and process weekly cheque runs etc.
• good analytical skills in order to resolve invoice discrepancies and investigate overdue accounts;
• thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office products;
• proficiency with e-mail as a method of communication;
• demonstrated team member in order to work effectively with all staff;
• excellent organization and time management skills in order to meet deadlines;
• experience with K212 software is an asset;
• two years of experience in a similar financial environment is preferred.

Position Effective Date & Length:

Temporary, CUPE 12 month, 35 hours/week

Level 3 - $24.58/hour - $26.00/hour
