Community Engagement Liaison

Does research get you revved up? How about meeting new people? Do you find yourself engaging with the store clerk every time you go out shopping? We would love to take your passion and harness it as our new Community Engagement Liaison (Labour Market Information Specialist).
The Community Engagement Liaison at our WorkBC Centre in Duncan is responsible for researching the local labour market to provide current information to clients for use in career planning and development, occupation selection, applications for service and creative work search strategies. The LMI Specialist will also assist Employers with WorkBC Centre employer services, both onsite and online.
The Community Engagement Liaison will organize hiring fairs, attend monthly community partnership meetings (Chamber of Commerce, etc.), and produce and distribute a weekly Labour Market Newsletter.
Essential Qualifications and Required Skills:
· Degree, diploma, or post-secondary certificate in Marketing, Communications, Commerce, Career Practitioner, Employment Development, or Vocational Rehabilitation
· Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a research and communications role, ideally with a focus on the areas of employment support, business, politics, psychology, culture, or economics
· Demonstrated initiative to find new labour market resources and keep updated on news and trends related to employment, business, economics, housing, immigration, and technology
· Proven attention to detail when reviewing and preparing documentation and recording information
· Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications with an understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access), and the Internet, in particular, using the Internet as an LMI and Job Search tool
· Impart verbal and written information in a clear, professional, positive, accessible, and engaging manner
· Write with a neutral voice and plain language, with proven experience adapting communication style to different audiences
· Demonstrate skills in group facilitation and delivery of LMI information to individuals with all learning levels and abilities
· Valid BC Driver's license for occasional work-related travel
· The selected candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
