The School

The role is within our School of Applied Sciences and Technology. The departments within the School are located on our Grande Prairie campus. The School offers a variety of programming in Fine Arts Humanities and Social Sciences Sciences and Animal Health Technology. Through this programming we offer a variety of certificates diplomas university transfer courses as well as a degree in computing science.

The Role

The Humanities and Social Sciences Department is preparing for a Bachelor of Social Work program and needs a number of subject matter experts to work on related course development for the following courses.

Candidates are invited to apply to develop one or more of the courses based on their experience and expertise.

• SW3110 Social Work and Intercultural Practice
• SW3120 Social Work Practice Skills Processes and Strategies
• SW3600 Applied Social Policy
• SW4190 Leadership and Advocacy
• SW4360 Green Social Work and Sustainability
• SW4370 Human Development in a Northern Rural and Indigenous Context

The subject matter experts will

• Finalize course descriptions and write appropriate learning outcomes
• Write descriptions of proposed assessments and weightings

This part-time term-certain position will commence as soon as possible with application review ongoing until all positions are filled.

Requirements

A Master of Social Work is required with a PhD preferred. Experience with post-secondary social work instruction and course development is an asset. Additionally candidates should have the following attributes.

• Knowledge of current educational technologies (e.g. videoconferencing learning management systems) is desired;
• Sensitivity to cultural competence and the promotion of diversity in program activities and curriculum;
• Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions 94 Calls to Action;
• The ability to teach both online and classroom-based courses;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• A high level of integrity professionalism and accountability.
