This is a unique opportunity to work closely with City of Edmonton Councillor, Thu Parmar and the Ward sipiwiyiniwak team. With over 100,000 residents in the southwest ward, we are a team dedicated to building public trust and confidence in our local government.

As Council Assistant, you will play a key role, working closely with the Councillor, the team, and the community at large to further advance the vision and mission of the office.

What will you do?

• Coordinate scheduling and logistics for the Councillor, including meetings, and community engagement events
• Organize and maintain digital and paper documentation
• Deliver excellent customer service by handling inquiries and concerns from public members via phone, email, or in person. Ensure prompt service to residents
• Proactively identify issues and escalate them to the Councillor as appropriate
• Attend meetings and events as appropriate
• Research and synthesize information to create reports, briefing materials and ward communications
• Create monthly newsletter
• Maintain politically sensitive information

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 and related post-secondary course work
• Two years of related administrative, customer service and/or public relations experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle conflict and demonstrate effective listening skills
• Excellent computer proficiency
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends

• Relevant political and media experience
• Experience with managing social media accounts

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Salary Range: $25.174 to $31.256 at 40 hours of work per week
