DESCRIPTION:

Under the general direction of the Dean of Students, the Associate Director, Student Wellness is responsible for the provision of community support, personal counselling, accessibility services for students, career services, learning skills strategy service, campus case management, co-supervision of the King's Promise Program, and training, regarding matters of overall health and well-being of King's students.

The successful applicant will:

• Oversee and manage the day to day effective functioning of the Personal Counselling, Accessibility Services for Students, Career Services, King's Promise, Case Management at King's. This includes clinical and administrative supervision as well as performance management of these team members.
• Provide direct service and oversight in the areas of personal counselling, accessibility counselling, career counselling and case management as needed to meet ongoing service demands, particularly during peak demand periods or times of staffing change including vacation and leaves of absence of others on the team.
• Act as a leader, consultant and resource to other Student Services professionals within King's University College.
• Lead the overall development of campus wellness programming to meet the ever-changing needs of students, works in collaboration with other College and University staff and leaders.
• Advise and liaises with student clubs, organizations and student leaders, and helps to support and oversee special student-initiated activities relating to overall health and wellness matters at the College.
• Participate in a variety of events and committees to represent King's University College where appropriate.
• Develop and maintains links with members of the London community to maintain an awareness of the resources that area available.
• Assist with supporting the daily operational needs, which varies and is dependent upon the cycle of the year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (unless identified as preferred):

• Must have a Masters Degree in Social Work or Counselling.
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in a progressively more responsible appointment.
• Must be registered or eligible to register as member of regulated health profession that can practice Psychotherapy within the Province of Ontario.
• Experience working with traditionally-aged university students is essential.
• Experience working with individuals in crisis is a strong asset;
• Must be able to work with students in crisis.
• Experience working in a University setting is strongly preferred.
• Good judgment and reliability; non-judgmental attitude is required;
• Experience working with people from various cultural backgrounds is highly beneficial;
• Must be comfortable working in an unpredictable and often stressful environment, and must be able to work both independently and as part of a team;
• Must manage a complex set of competing priorities;
• Ability to exercise common sense, tact, discretion and diplomacy, and a proven ability to deal with matters of extreme sensitivity and confidentiality are essential;
• Strong commitment to improving and enhancing the student experience;
• Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and information communication standards of practice in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA);
• Thorough knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and management of confidential student information is essential.
• Ability to gather, analyse and disseminate information on program use.

TYPE OF JOB:

Permanent Full-Time - 35 hours per week. This position must be available to work from Campus.

EFFECTIVE DATE:

As soon as possible.

SALARY RANGE:

PSG 16 - $92,457 - $115,768 per annum, dependent on experience.
