Position Overview:
As our Jr. Quality Specialist, 1-year contract you will support Operations, Operational Excellence, and QA/QC teams in preparing, configuring, and maintaining MES (Manufacturing Execution System) documentation and associated Quality workflows. The role ensures MES documentation and configurations align with established Quality System requirements and accurately reflect manufacturing and inspection processes in Solumina. This position contributes to continuous improvement efforts across the organization by supporting digitization, automation, and AI-enabled enhancements within the Quality and Operations functions.

Your Day to Day as our Jr. Quality Specialist:

• Develop and maintain MES documentation to meet Quality System requirements.
• Create process flow diagrams for QA, QC, and Document Control processes interfacing with MES.
• Configure Quality processes in Solumina MES, including:
  • Inspection & Test Plans
  • Buy-offs
  • History Docket
  • Shop Inspection Reports
  • Tooling & Calibration
  • Nonconformance and Corrective Action workflows
• Confirm SAP configurations for production orders and repair-related nonconformance operations.
• Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to develop training materials and update work instructions impacted by MES changes.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineers and shop personnel to create and refine shop instructions within Solumina.
• Translate realistic shop-floor time standards into MES and coordinate with Planning & Scheduling to ensure accurate configuration.
• Operate independently at a junior-intermediate technical level with oversight from management or senior departmental staff.

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• CET designation is an asset.
• 0–5 years of experience in a heavy fabrication manufacturing environment.
• Experience with operation sequencing and manufacturing process flows.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated application of Statistical Process Control tools and principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge and applied experience in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
• Experience in the Nuclear industry is an asset.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks (or similar 3D design software).
• Experience with SAP is an asset .

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON)   at the start of employment is expected to be between $68,000 and $91,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
