Hiring Unit: Office of the Vice-President (Research and Innovation), D2R The Digital Communications Assistant supports the overall communications of the DNA to RNA (D2R) Initiative. D2R is a research initiative at McGill University that takes an inclusive Canadian approach to genomic-based RNA therapeutics. Reporting to the Senior Communications Officer, the assistant will create engaging written and multimedia content to build awareness of D2R, assist with event planning and maintain the D2R website and social media accounts. Main Responsibilities

• Create content for D2R's digital channels, including website, newsletter, and social media.
• Maintain D2R social media channels by regularly posting diverse content and engaging with online communities.
• Identify opportunities to develop new content and expand D2R's online and social media presences.
• Support the planning and execution of D2R's digital marketing campaigns.
• Write and edit stories about D2R activities including funded projects, research findings, researcher profiles, and events.
• Assist in producing communications assets such as photos, videos, and graphics for distribution through D2R and the university's digital networks.
• Provide logistical support to organize D2R events and meetings as required.
• Perform regular analytics to track and report on the performance of digital content and campaigns.

Qualifications/ Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Excellent command in spoken and written English, and proficiency in spoken and written French an asset.

• Demonstrated communication, content creation and digital management skills.
• Proven ability to create and edit communications content, (e.g., articles, social media posts, newsletters, etc.) in English and French.
• Experience in managing social media channels (especially LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Bluesky).
• Familiarity with analytics platforms for tracking and reporting on digital engagement.
• Graphic design skills (such as knowledge of layout and design concepts and software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud programs).
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• High attention to detail to prepare documents that are consistently of the highest quality in terms of content, format, and design.
• Interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Experience in a PC environment.
• Familiarity with web management systems (e.g., Drupal).
• Experience with photography and video production.

Contract details:

• Full time or 4 days per week
• Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office, with the remainder remote.
• 21$/hour
• 3-6 months (maximum 6-month contract).
• Start date April 2025
