Heavy Equipment Technician - 2nd Year Apprentice

The Heavy Equipment Technician – 2nd Year Apprentice supports the inspection, maintenance, and repair of trucks, trailers and construction equipment. Working under the guide of experienced technicians, this role helps keep our fleet operating safely and reliably throughout the construction season. This position is primarily shop based, with opportunities to assist in the field when required.Job ResponsibilitiesAssist inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of truck, trailer combinations and various off road equipment including compaction equipment, dozers, excavators, graders, loaders and paving equipment Support troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systemsPerform preventative maintenance and assist with repairs and breakdownsMaintain accurate maintenance records and documentationAssist in field service work when required, including occasional overnight travelFollow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe work environmentWork overtime and weekends during the construction season as requiredQualificationsRegistered 2nd Year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice (or equivalent)Some mechanical knowledge with a willingness to learn and develop skillsInterest in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systemsBasic welding knowledge and skills is an assetValid Class 5 Driver's License with clean abstract (Valid Class 1 License is an asset) Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detailAbility to work independently as well as part of a team What We OfferCompetitive wages based on experienceBenefitsProfit sharingCompany Share Ownership ProgramOngoing training and developmentOpportunities for advancementSteady work during the construction seasonMany of our leaders started in field or entry level roles and we believe strongly in promoting from within.
