Career Opportunity and Primary Roles / Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Power System Engineer to support the concept, detailed design, analysis, verification, and integration of electrical power subsystems (solar arrays, power-conditioning units, batteries, distribution, and regulation) for current and next-generation remote sensing and communications satellites. The role works closely with payload, bus, thermal, structural, and mission systems multidisciplinary teams responsible for delivering high-performance, reliable EPS solutions to commercial, government, and defense customers.

Tasks summary:

Architecture Concept & Requirements

• Define EPS architecture (generation, storage, and distribution) that satisfies mission power budget, mass, volume, and reliability constraints.

• Perform trade studies (e.g., solar cell type, battery chemistry, regulator topology).

• Generate system requirements and functional flow block diagrams.

• Develop Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Design Descriptions.

• Perform requirements management and maintain bidirectional traceability throughout the program lifecycle.

Detailed Design & Analysis

• Size solar arrays, power-conditioning units, battery packs, and power distribution units.

• Build and validate high-fidelity electrical models for satellite operating modes, FMECA, fault detection, and related analyses.

• Conduct and maintain power budget models, load-flow analyses, thermal-power coupling assessments, and survivability analyses (e.g., eclipse, safe mode, fault-tolerant operations).

Cross-Functional Coordination, Stakeholder & Program Interaction

• Present technical status, risk analyses, and trade-study results to program stakeholders and senior management.

• Interface with spacecraft bus teams including power, thermal, structure, and avionics disciplines.

• Develop and maintain high-fidelity power models for mission analysis activities such as orbit raising, station-keeping, and de-orbiting.

• Develop tools to improve satellite power efficiency and optimization.

• Support B&P activities (Phase 0 & Pre-Phase A).

Integration & Verification (IVV)

• Author verification plans, test matrices, and validation procedures for unit and EPS subsystem testing.

• Support ground-test and integration campaigns, including fueling activities, thermal vacuum testing, EMI/EMC testing, and spacecraft-level integration.

• Analyze test data, resolve anomalies, and update design baselines.

• Support Flight Software (FSW) integration activities.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor, guide, and support junior and intermediate system engineers and interns.

• Act as a technical liaison with customers, partners, and external suppliers.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

• Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities, process enhancements, and standards development.

Configuration, Documentation & Standards Management

• Maintain design and safety standards.

• Ensure all artefacts, analyses, software, documentation, and deliverables are maintained under configuration control within the PLM environment.

• Support design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR/TRR, etc.).

• Support technology roadmaps and innovation initiatives.

Launch-Site, On-Orbit & Operations Support

• Support launch-site interface checklists with launch vehicle integration teams, pre-launch checkout procedures, and early-orbit checkout activities.

• Provide real-time engineering support during launch, on-orbit commissioning, anomaly investigations, and contingency operations.

• Support SOOH development and associated operator training.

Required Qualifications:

• B.Sc . in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 8+ years of EPS system design experience on LEO and/or MEO platforms.

• Deep knowledge of spacecraft bus subsystems and their interactions.

• Experience with power electronics design and power management hardware.

• Strong understanding of aerospace systems engineering fundamentals.

• Hands-on individual capable of supporting systems integration processes, testing activities, and problem resolution.

• Experience with Confluence and Jira.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

• Ability to distill complex problems into fundamental elements and solve them through analysis, analogy, or creativity.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Knowledge of French will be considered an asset.
