Lead Underwriter, Group Benefits

Join Benefits by Design as the Lead Underwriter for group benefits in Kingston, Ottawa, or Toronto. This full-time role emphasizes strategic oversight and team leadership. In this crucial position, you will manage the underwriting department's day-to-day functions while enhancing the profitability and competitiveness of group insurance plans. Your leadership will focus on staff development, risk assessment, and process optimization. Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to maintain high-level service standards and drive innovative underwriting solutions. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise underwriting practices for group health and disability
- Analyze group data and claims history for informed decisions
- Foster relationships with clients and brokers for loyalty
- Implement strategies to increase sales performance
- Report key metrics to inform senior management decisions
- 5+ years of experience in underwriting
- Strong knowledge of group benefits and risk assessment
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Proficient in data analytics and reporting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
