Store Manager (Edmonton)

At Hot Topic, we’re passionate about music, pop culture, and creating an amazing in‑store experience for customers and employees. We’re searching for a Store Manager to bring the fandom to life.

You’ll lead the store in achieving objectives, including sales targets, recruiting, development, and performance management. You’ll be the leader of the team, focused on customer engagement through social media, store web apps, and clienteling.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the store meets or exceeds the sales plan and/or comp sales goals.
• Recruit, develop, and retain a collaborative and passionate team.
• Provide excellent customer service to shoppers throughout the mall.
• Create buzz and customer engagement through social media, store web applications, and clienteling.
• Lead an operationally sound business, balancing structure, delegation, and autonomy with customer‑first selling practices.
• Handle any challenge in a dynamic retail environment.
• Monitor shrink/loss prevention, payroll hours, schedules, and external factors affecting business.
• Collaboratively communicate trends & customer feedback with retail leadership and HQ partners.
• Run sales reports and use data to guide strategy to hit sales targets.
• Adapt to current technologies, communicate company policies & procedures, and control supply ownership.
• Merchandise the store compellingly, using planograms and launching promotions on time.
• Build a bench of talented staff through mentorship, recognition, and feedback.

Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years of retail store management experience.
• Strong communication, recruiting, and operational skills (payroll, reporting, scheduling, merchandising).
• High school diploma or GED equivalent; a degree is a plus.
• Ability to navigate the store, merchandise product, and handle boxes that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
• Open‑minded and inquisitive regarding pop culture fandoms & music trends.
• Comfortable adapting to a fast‑changing retail industry.
