Director of Retail Operations (Stores)

About the role

The Director of Retail Operations leads the store operations team and sets how stores plan, execute and improve. Working as a peer to the Head of Retail Sales, this role owns the retail promotional plan and calendar, store projects and openings, training, merchandising and day-to-day store support.

Responsible for overseeing the performance, driving operational efficiency and cost control, and standards of retail store network.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Head of Retail Sales on the store opening calendar, business cases, store priorities and execution of initiatives;
• Analyze sales data, KPI’s, customer feedback and operational metrics. Identify trends and implement corrective measures;
• Own the retail promotional plan and coordination, including plans, lists, promo set-up and marketing needs;
• Analyze sales and promotions reporting, ensure the retail calendar aligned to the 360-brand focus, and store-specific sales and promotions;
• Set priorities and plans for retail activations and approve activation plans before execution;
• Own the retail operations input to store design and optimization for new and renovated stores;
• Own how Store Operations partners with the Head of Retail Sales and District Managers to support stores and execute initiatives;
• Set the plan for continuous improvement of the training program and partner with the Retail Operations and Training Specialist to build new training;
• Support the shared store visit calendar and visit stores to identify opportunities to improve and support execution;
• Lead, coach and develop the operations team;
• Review project, store opening, store issue and compliance reporting, and approve new or updated operating procedures;
• Handle escalations with IT and other departments on retail needs;
• Support Marketing with retail briefing, signage priorities, copy and design feedback, and store-specific marketing needs;
• Ensuren promotions, training, merchandising, projects and field execution operate as one coordinated retail plan.

Requirements

• 10+ years of retail experience, including 5+ years leading store operations, retail marketing or multi-unit teams;
• Proven track record of planning and delivering promotions and initiatives across a store network;
• Experience opening new stores and scaling a retail network;
• Strong leadership skills, with experience developing managers and specialists;
• Strong analytical skills and comfort with sales and promotions reporting;
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field, or equivalent experience;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French;
• Ability to travel to stores regularly.
