Bilingual Child Care Coordinator

Job Responsibility:

French International Alberta Education & CAIS accredited private school, about 450 students total, is seeking a full-time Bilingual Child Care Coordinator, starting August 2024 or before.

Founded in 1966, Lycée international de Calgary (formerly Lycée Louis Pasteur) is a non-denominational independent French international school providing a challenging and stimulating bilingual education within a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. JOB SUMMARY

The Bilingual Child Care Coordinator (CCC) reports directly to the Head of School. The Child Care Coordinator (CCC) is responsible for assisting the Academic Department with the creation and maintenance of the Daycare and Out of School Care programs, consistent with Alberta Human Services requirements and the school's vision and mission. The CCC will liaise with the Lower School Director, Faculty, Student Services, and other administrative services as necessary. The CCC has a critical role in executing the mission, vision and philosophies of Lycée International de Calgary.

JOB DUTIES

The duties of the Bilingual Child Care Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

• Liaise with Alberta Human Services regarding licensing and other childcare claims.
• Attend Alberta Human Services meetings as applicable and report developments to the Lower School Director and/or the faculty, as appropriate, in order to assist the faculty in the creation of an exciting and challenging curriculum, which is in compliance with Alberta Human Services.
• Supervise the Daycare Assistants.
• Responsible for scheduling of the Daycare Assistants.
• Serve as a Maternelle substitute teacher on an emergency basis.
• Help with supervision duties as necessary.
• Supervise students as necessary.
• Create, staff and manage the camp weeks (Fall, winter, spring and summer).
• Attend faculty, instructional leaders and school meetings.
• Attend and participate in professional development.
• Present and organize professional development for daycare teachers and staff.
• Engage in collaboration with teachers and staff.
• Engage in the events of the community.
• Manage academic events and initiatives, including developing communications plans, proactively engaging co-workers, developing opportunities for community engagement, coordinating catering and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Perform other tasks, within reason, as requested by the Head of School.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 2 years of experience as Child Care Coordinator or equivalent.
• Knowledge and familiarity with Alberta Child Care Act and child care Best Practices.
• Solid understanding and appreciation of the philosophy and unique goals of Lycée.
• Ability to communicate and model best child care practices to ensure a safe, attractive, developmentally appropriate and stimulating environment.
• Internationally-minded; diplomatic, culturally sensitive and committed to diversity.
• Relationship builder and team player, who will take into account all stakeholders.
• Flexible, creative and adaptable, as well as methodical, rigorous and resilient.
• Excellent command of the English and French language.
• Must be computer-literate (Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite and database).

Other

• First Aid & CPR training.
• Police check (with vulnerable sector).
• Valid Early Childhood Educator Certificate Level 3 (or Child Development Supervisor).
• Bachelor of Early Child Development or an equivalent.
• Candidates must be able to work in Canada.

The CCC is evaluated on an ongoing basis by the Lower School Director and follows a self-directed program of professional development, which is created in consultation with the Lower School Director and Head of School.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• One-Year contract. Could become a permanent position after the 1st year.
• Start date: August 15, 2024 (or before if possible).
