Savanna Drilling - Now Hiring Experienced Rig Crew

Savanna Drilling is hiring experienced Drillers, Derrickhands, Motorhands, and Floorhands for our drilling rigs across Western Canada. If you have oilfield experience, value safety, and want to grow your career with a crew that invests in training and development, we'd like to hear from you.

Open Positions

FLOORHAND
The Floorhand works on the rig floor connecting and disconnecting drill pipe, casing and other tubulars. You'll make sure alignment and torque are correct, help run the mud system and mix drilling fluids, and handle tools and pipe to and from the floor using proper lifting equipment. You'll also help with rig-up, rig-out and rig moves. You'll keep the rig floor clean and free of hazards, help with preventative maintenance, and drive the crew vehicle when needed. You report to the Driller and Rig Manager.

DRILLER
The Driller runs the rig controls and supervises the rig crew. You'll operate the rig and related equipment (hoisting, mud pumps, generators, HPU), monitor drilling progress and well parameters, and troubleshoot equipment issues to keep downtime low. You'll lead safety meetings, drills, hazard assessments and tour inspections, assign tasks based on crew competency, and train newer workers. You'll also keep detailed drilling records and daily reports. You report to the Rig Manager.

DERRICKHAND
The Derrickhand operates and maintains the derrick and drilling fluid systems. You'll monitor and adjust mud properties and tank levels, keep mud pumps and pump lines in good working order, and inspect and grease derrick equipment, cables and sheaves. You'll complete drops inspections in Done Safe and maintain 100% tie-off at heights. You'll also help train and supervise Motorhands, Floorhands and Leasehands. You report to the Driller and Rig Manager.

MOTORHAND
The Motorhand maintains, repairs and operates the motors and engines that power the rig. You'll run and maintain the engines for the drawworks, top drive and fluid circulation, and keep the boiler, water and steam systems running. You'll complete daily inspections on motors, BOP equipment, generators, air compressors and hydraulic systems, and inspect the BOP accumulator every tour. You'll keep logs and maintenance forms up to date and help mentor Floorhands and Leasehands. You report to the Driller and Rig Manager.
