Job Details

Term of App't: Regular, Full time (Monday - Friday, 7 hours per day);

Start date: Immediately

Reporting to: Director of International Education

Salary: Classification 13, $54,454.97 - $56,139.14 annually, as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Annual vacation (119 hours) is pro-rated, and front‑loaded. We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits (eligible after 6 months of employment). The Support Collective Agreement includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves. Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 - Jan 1) each year is additional paid time off. Enrollment in the Municipal Pension Plan is mandatory for all regular, full‑time support staff, with standard contributions matched by the employer.

International Student Specialist

The International Education Department is seeking to hire a full‑time International Student Specialist, who will provide administrative, personal, and advocacy support to prospective and current international students. This position is primarily responsible for providing information and guidance on students' verification letters and other related documents, and also provides information on procedures and assists with orientation events.

The International Student Specialist will maintain extensive knowledge of policies, procedures and regulations of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) pertaining to documentation relevant to international student requirements.

Duties

• Maintaining a variety of international student databases for registration, admissions, and recruitment.
• Preparing, reviewing and reporting on a variety of student and/or course related areas including student demographics, contact information, part‑time registration, and other statistical data; complying with general student information for reporting purposes.
• Monitoring student data; preparing and sending compliance reports to Immigration Canada, as required.
• Participating in the recruitment, evaluation, inspection and maintaining the required number of accommodations for emergent situations.
• Assisting students with preparing applications to the residence or with rentals within the community.
• Facilitating the airport pick‑ups upon arrival to the community.

Qualifications

Ideally, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' related experience and 1 year of post‑secondary education with a certificate in office administration, or an equivalent combination of experience may be considered. Experience and proficiency with the current version of MS Office is required. Excellent organizational and both written and verbal communication skills are essential. Must be able to contribute to a team environment, multi‑task, and work independently. Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while working with frequent interruptions. A valid BC Driver's License is required.

This position may require you to work flexible hours including some weekend or evening hours.
