SAP is at the forefront of revolutionizing data management in the cloud with our innovative SAP HANA Cloud Service. This service is central to SAP's Business Technology Platform and assists the persistence needs of SAP's core applications as well as external customers using the SAP HANA and SAP IQ relational database management systems in the cloud. Our service runs on all major hyperscalers, across many geographies and manages over 20,000 database instances with over 2PB of data under management.

We are hiring cloud developers to further extend the capabilities of SAP HANA Cloud and SAP HANA Cloud, data lakehouse. Our team works on the services surrounding the databases that enable self-service operations, fault-tolerance, resilience, data security, APIs and monitoring while also considering scalability both from a capacity and cost perspective. We use a modern stack built on Kubernetes and use modern development practices including CI/CD and use cutting edge tools like GitHub Copilot in our day-to-day work.

• Design, write, test and debug code for cloud services, system automation and infrastructure that contribute to features in SAP HANA Cloud, often working closely with other service and core database teams in the organization.
• Use and strengthen skills in multiple programming languages. While most of our code is written in Go and python, our developers also interact with systems written in C++ and Java as well as a variety of languages for infrastructure automation.
• Use your expertise and problem-solving abilities to prevent and investigate production incidents while continually enhancing the stability, scalability, and operability of the product.
• Collaborate effectively within a team in a supportive environment, providing and receiving feedback to achieve the best possible outcomes for the product.
• Gain the opportunity to lead projects on a per-project basis, regardless of career level.
• Be empowered to continually learn, making improvements and driving efficiencies to both technology and processes.
• Receive support from management with technical backgrounds who respect the abilities of the team and foster its growth.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation.

The ideal Cloud Services Developer will have:

• BS/CS, MS/CS or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the desire to work with others.
• 5+ years of experience in a platform or DevOps team in a SaaS environment and supporting mission critical services
• 5+ years of experience in cloud computing (AWS, Azure or GCP) or containerization of micro services and container orchestration solutions, notably Kubernetes and Docker, especially with the development of Kubernetes operators.
• Extremely strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
• Professional experience with systems languages, such as Go, Rust, C/C++, Java, Python or Scala, with experience with Go and Python preferred
• Experience with cloud DevOps toolsets, including Grafana and Prometheus
• The ability to understand systems from first principles, reason about topics such as distributed systems, concurrency, and hardware, and solve systems problems
• A strong work ethic and a passion for problem solving, and a self-driven, motivated attitude.

SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 98500 - 212,200 (CAD) CAD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount, and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
