Strategic Marketing Manager

Overview:

Tourism Nanaimo is seeking a dynamic and strategic individual to fill the role of Strategic Marketing Manager. This position plays a crucial analytical role within our organization, promoting the brand to residents and new travel audiences while maintaining relationships with existing travel markets and partners. Your work will drive visitation, revenue, economic investment, and enhance the quality of life in Nanaimo.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaison Duties: Work with the Prosperity Group (EcDev) and the City of Nanaimo to ensure cohesive resident messaging.
• Advertising Campaigns: Develop and execute advertising campaigns with our agency partners to maximize brand awareness.
• Public Relations: Maintain strong public relations and brand image with residents and travelers.
• Marketing Objectives: Oversee creative, digital, analytical, and financial aspects of marketing objectives.
• Data Analysis: Manage strategic goals and outputs using analyzed data and research.
• Process Management: Establish and implement strong processes and structure within the marketing department.
• Strategic Planning: Lead the planning, development, and direction of marketing strategies to drive visitation and resident sentiment.
• Social Media Management: Oversee social media accounts to engage existing audiences and establish positive public relations.
• Research and Analysis: Conduct research, analyze data, and present findings to the executive team.
• Promotional Activities: Coordinate promotional activities, events, interviews, and support Familiarization Trips (FAMs) with Meetings and Events.
• Content Production: Manage production and performance of multimedia content.
• Reporting: Assist in developing reports and presentations, including graphics to support concepts.
• Editorial Placement: Work with the PR agency of record to place Nanaimo in key editorials and publications.
• Process Reporting: Manage and implement strong process reporting and development within Tourism Nanaimo.
• Website Content: Support the creation of content and updates to the Tourism Nanaimo website with marketing objectives in mind.
• SEO Management: Manage an SEO specialist to support the implementation of SEO in online media.
• Visitor Services Liaison: Liaison with Visitor Services to understand frontline inquiries from visitors, enabling the creation of tailored itineraries and support materials for the Visitor Centre.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing Major (5 years current experience required)
• Experience: Experience managing 3rd party contractors and project deliverables.
• Communication: Excellent communication and networking skills.
• Teamwork: Strong teamwork and adaptability skills.
• Organization: Attention to detail with good organization and planning abilities.
• Creativity: Creativity in writing and design.
• Commercial Awareness: Commercial awareness and numerical skills.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in IT, Adobe, Illustrator, Meta, social channels
