Superintendent – Commercial Construction (Edmonton, AB)

Position Overview

Our client, a well-established general contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to lead field operations across commercial construction projects in the Edmonton region. The Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of trades, site safety, schedule execution, and overall project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all on-site construction activities from mobilization through close-out
• Oversee subcontractors, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards
• Develop and maintain short-term schedules in alignment with the master project schedule
• Conduct daily site meetings, safety meetings, and coordinate trade sequencing
• Ensure compliance with all provincial safety regulations and company safety policies
• Perform quality control inspections and address deficiencies in a timely manner
• Collaborate with the Project Manager on procurement, RFIs, change orders, and cost impacts
• Maintain site documentation including daily logs, progress reports, and inspections
• Lead site logistics planning, material deliveries, and workforce coordination

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in commercial construction, including leadership experience as a Superintendent
• Proven track record delivering projects such as retail, multi-family, institutional, or mixed-use developments
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and trade coordination
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Solid knowledge of Alberta building codes and OH&S regulations
• Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project)
